http://www.ulasimturkiye.com/viewtopic.

Hello,
I'm sorry for writing in English, but I live in Russia and almost don't know Turkish.
At the beginning of January I was traveled to Istanbul to discover its rail transport, and would like to ask 2 questions:
1. Is Seyrantepe depot operational now or still in process of constructing? If still in process - where are the M2 trains being maintained since 2000? Is there another depot on M2 line? I've watched along whole M2 on Google maps, but didn't find anything looks like metro depot
2. Why there is so much advertising of Vodaphone on the Ataturk Oto Sanayi station? On the floor, between the escalators, etc. Even the name of the station on the wall written as "Ataturk Oto Sanayi Vodafone Istansyonu". Has Vodafone financed constructing of this station? Or the advertising appeared later?
Thank you,
Sergey

Well, no problem, we speak English too, of course
The Seyrantepe depo is operational right now as garage and sheltered metro workshop. Before that, the attendance and repairing had been done in an isolated zone of the regular line.
Regarding your second question, we are still investigating this and hope we'll be able to answer that in a few days.

O, it's great that you're understanding me!
I was afraid that communication on other languages is denied by forum rules, by if it's all right here - it's great
Can you tell more details about that "isolated zone"? What does it present? Is it a group of separate tracks, which connects to main line, or trains were standing right on main tracks? It was the one place of that kind for a whole line, or there are several these zones (and where they are located)? How are they being used now (or don't be used at all)? And I suppose that some kind of large-size equipment is needed to repair trains - is it enough space in underground area to place this equipment?
Sorry for so many questions, but I'm really surprised to know about this scheme of rolling stock maintenance. In our country there are a few cases, when several subway lines share one common depot, but when the whole underground system has no depot all - I see it in the first time.
As I suppose, this is the construction area of Seyrantepe complex (depot & station). So.. where is the station located? On the above level of the repair shop building or aside from it? And why there are no railway tracks leading from depot to tunnel portal? Does it mean, that the entrance to connection tunnel is located right inside the building?
Yes, if some of these questions were discussed earlier on this forum, please feel free to give the links - although I can't write in Turkish, I can read from it with Google Tranlsate

Hello Sergej,
no, why should it be forbidden? Of course, we all speak Turkish, but if someone is not capable of that, well, we will adapt to that, for sure.
Regarding the isolated zone I'll wait for Esat's reply. I guess he has more information than me.
That our metro system had no maintenance area may go back to the commissioning of the first segment from Taksim on, before the whole system had been finished. What started as a stub will end up in a grown, full metro line from the north of western Istanbul to the south. If this will ramify in future ... we don't know yet. As you might have recognized, our M1, derived from a so-called "light" system, has no rail connection to M2. The M1 system starts to ramify right now. But M2? And the eastern metro line(s)? Istanbul's problem is its dimensions and the dividing Bosporus narrows. And maybe in addition a kind of light chaotic planning, if we may doubt.
If that building is the depot ... I guess. I'm not completely up the mark with this quite new building. Our pals in Istanbul might tell a bit about that. Kemal e. g. had been there.
We have two threads concerning this M2 extension:
Sanayi Mahallesi Seyrantepe mekik Hattı (mekik means something like shuttle or chaining, hat means line), to be read here: http://www.ulasimturkiye.com/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0
... and Sanayi Mahallesi Seyrantepe M2 İnşaa Süreci (meaning the developing/course/progress of building that line/stub), to be read here:

Ben Türkçe cevaplayacağım, böylece hem ingilizce fakiri olduğum ortaya çıkmazAnakin yazdı:2. Why there is so much advertising of Vodaphone on the Ataturk Oto Sanayi station?
